Micron, Samsung, andSK hynixhave introduced their small outline compression attached memory modules (SOCAMM) that use LPDDR5X memory and are aimed at AI and low-power servers. SOCAMMs — which will first be used with servers based on Nvidia’sGB300Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip systems — are designed to bring together high capacity, high performance, small footprint, and low power consumption. A SOCAMM measures 14x90mm — one-third of a traditional RDIMM — and carries up to four 16-die LPDDR5X memory stacks....

Micron and Astera Labs teamed up at DesignCon 2025 to show off the world’s first PCIe 6 SSDs in the wild, paired with Astera’s Scorpio PCIe 6.0 network fabric switch. When connected to twoMicron PCIe 6.0 SSDsand an NvidiaH100 GPU, the switch handled sequential SSD read speeds of over 27 GB/s on each drive — doubling the speeds of today’s fastest PCIe 5.0 drives. TrendForce’s latest report indicates that spot prices for both DRAM and NAND flash memory are unlikely to increase soon due to two reasons. First, there’s plenty of inventory on the market. Second, the Chinese government’s recent actions against smuggling of refurbished DRAMs has had a further effect on DRAM prices. In the DRAM market, spot prices continue decline, in a stark contrast to contract prices. This happens because of excessive inventory levels at module houses, which tend to buy DRAMs on the spot market....

Thermal paste maker Clock Work Tea Party (CWTP), known for releasing scented non-conductive thermal pastes, has now released an osmanthus-scented variation in limited quantities.The thermal pastewill be ready for purchase on April 12 and available in Japan with a worldwide shipping option. There’s no explanation given why CWTP makes scented thermal pastes or if it includes specific unique properties that make one’s system smell nice at higher temperatures. The scent is extracted from Osmanthus fruit and mixed with the base ingredients containing Silicone and metal oxide....

A new UEFI vulnerability has been discovered that is spread through multiple system recovery tools.Bleeping Computerreports that the vulnerability enables attackers to bypass Secure Boot and deploy bootkits that can be invisible to the operating system.Microsofthas officially flagged the vulnerability with the codename CVE-2024-7344 Howyar Taiwan Secure Boot Bypass. The culprit purportedly comes from a customer PE loader, which allows any UEFI binary to be loaded, even unsigned ones. This is due to the vulnerability allegedly not relying on trusted services such as LoadImage and StartImage....

As Nintendo Switch unlocks and homebrew software develops, people are inclined to explore the possibilities and whether or not they actually provide a good experience. Our new prime example seems to be a full install ofWindows 11Arm on the Switch. As noted by @PatRykon Twitter, who actually set this up, the experience is pretty grueling! The initial installation took three hours, and even basic system tasks were unresponsive. Things really start looking bleak when we try to game on a Switch with Windows 11 installed....

Half way through the video, the team revealed the prototype: a massive, quad-slot, fully flow-through graphics card featuring a vertical PCB, which was the precursor to the skinny, dual-slot 5090 FE card we have today.This prototype Founders Edition cooler was part of Nvidia’s experimentation withflow-through GPUdesigns.
